Hawa Mahal, one of Jaipur’s most iconic landmarks, is a breathtaking example of Rajput
architecture and artistic design.
Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and designed by architect Lal Chand Ustad, the palace
allowed royal women to observe street life and festivals while remaining unseen.
Constructed from red and pink sandstone, the façade resembles a delicate honeycomb with
953 jharokha-style windows.
These intricately carved lattices let cool breezes flow throughout the palace, earning it the name
“Palace of Winds” and creating mesmerizing patterns of light and shadow.
Inside, visitors will find narrow corridors, small chambers, and charming balconies that offer
panoramic views of Jaipur’s bustling streets, including Jantar Mantar and City Palace.
The elegant arches, symmetrical layout, and Mughal-inspired details make it a photographer’s
paradise.
Situated on the lively Johari Bazaar Road, Hawa Mahal is surrounded by vibrant markets
selling jewelry, textiles, handicrafts, and traditional Rajasthani art.
The colorful surroundings add to the overall charm and cultural experience.
Whether you're exploring Jaipur’s royal architecture, enjoying a heritage walk, or capturing beautiful photographs, Hawa Mahal offers an unforgettable experience that reflects the elegance, history, and cultural richness of Rajasthan.
“Amazing experience! Great planning, smooth logistics, and beautiful sightseeing. Highly recommended for stress-free travel.”
