Feroz Shah Palace, located in Hisar, Haryana, is a remarkable 14th-century architectural complex built
around 1354 CE by Feroz Shah Tughlaq of the Delhi Sultanate.
Once a royal residence and administrative hub, it stands today as one of the region’s most
important historical landmarks.
Constructed with red sandstone and rubble masonry, the palace reflects the signature Tughlaq style with
sloping walls, arched gateways, and a minimal yet powerful design.
The complex includes fortified walls, courtyards, interconnected halls, prayer chambers, and secret passages.
A highlight of the palace complex is the elegant Gujri Mahal, believed to have been built
by Feroz Shah Tughlaq for his wife, Gujri.
It features domes, carved pillars, and traditional chambers that reflect the aesthetics of Sultanate-era architecture.
The complex includes an ancient baoli (stepwell) that showcases medieval water-management
techniques.
The site also forms part of the Feroz Shah Palace & Fort Complex, with remains of a mosque, watchtowers,
and old residential quarters.
Visitors can explore atmospheric ruins, admire the arches and domes, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
For history enthusiasts, students, and cultural travelers, Feroz Shah Palace offers a captivating look into
Haryana’s medieval past.
